Situation

A large financial services company with more than 8000 employees, $3 billion in annual revenue, and 500 locations across North America was challenged by disparate internal and external legal teams, subsequently contracted eDiscovery vendors, and data repositories that created operational and cost inefficiencies. The client’s internal cost structure consisted of a monthly subscription to an antiquated technology that had limited functionality in terms of full-service eDiscovery. Beyond internal costs, the client received monthly invoices from each law firm they utilized to complete the rest of their eDiscovery workflow. Each law firm managed to a different billing model for the services they performed that hindered performance and operational metric tracking. The organization recognized a need for a centralized location to index and access data to reduce security concerns, administrative overhead, and excess expenses associated with ad hoc eDiscovery contracts. After additionally identifying key limitations when searching company data within the Office 365 interface, the IT department’s Head of eDiscovery began searching for an enhanced solution to better address the organization’s data management needs.
